We're off to the lake in a few hours for our nature cruise with some friends. The first time I went on this cruise I was camping with some friends up there and a few of them wanted to go. I thought it would be lame, but it ended up being really great! Neal Taylor, the naturalist at the time is an expert fly fisherman and from what I hear he's taught many President's to fish as well as others. The story I like about him the best is the one where he took a group of british fellows out on the cruise and when they returned one of the guys that worked at the dock asked him what it was like. He answered, "what was what like?".. the fellow said, "you just took the Rolling Stones out for a nature cruise!"... the naturalist had no idea and may not have even really known who the Rolling Stones are.
Unfortunately for us, Neal Taylor doesn't do the cruises any longer...he's still around occasionally teaching fishing and such things though and I hope someday to catch one of his seminars. The new naturalists don't have the great stories, but the scenery is still beautiful. It should be nice and warm today.
I'm a little bummed because the chances of me getting in any meaningful movement will be slim, but possibly I can talk everyone into walking around the lake after the boat trip and before our dinner reservations... crossing fingers.
I got some sleep last night which was great... my back has been bothering me a bit when I stand or walk too long and that sucks. I'm going to visit the chiropractor next week to see if my hips are crooked again.
Happy Labor Day weekend everyone!
